LSU FETI to begin teaching Portable Fire Extinguisher Service and Maintenance Technician Course Including Hose Testing


LSU FETI, at the request of the Louisiana State Fire Marshall's office, is now offering a 16-hour course developed for those working in the portable fire extinguisher industry. The class has been developed to teach students the basics of maintenance and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and occupant use hoses in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and standards. Upon completion of the course and successfully passing the test, students will be able to present their certificate to the licensing division at the Louisiana State Fire Marshall's office for appropriate licensure.

The class will be held over 2 consecutive days and will include both classroom and practical training. Students will be shown the proper techniques for all types of extinguisher servicing including hydrostatic testing. Also covered will be proper techniques in hose testing.

For those individuals who are already licensed, this course will satisfy continuing education (CEU) requirements.

Registration: Forms may be downloaded here and faxed in before the class. ALL registrations for the class are due in 1 week prior to start of class.

Course Cost:

2-day Technician Level - $250.00
1-day refresher (CEU) - $150.00

Class Dates: First Wednesday and Thursday of each month (minimum class size applies)

Location: Primary- FETI, Baton Rouge; Secondary- FETI Pine Country(Minden), and other locations as needed

Minimum class size: 8
