Conductor's Art

January 19 - 20, 2024  //  LSU Baton Rouge Campus

The Conductor's Art is a multi-day conducting and teaching workshop, presenting band and orchestra directors at all levels an extraordinary professional development opportunity. Participants will have the opportunity to conduct the LSU Wind Ensemble, the LSU Symphony Orchestra & Virtuosi, the LSU Symphonic Winds, and the LSU Chamber Winds, while receiving direct coaching from renowned guest clinicians and individual feedback from the LSU School of Music conducting faculty.

Application Process

Please review the information below carefully before applying to attend.

There are three tracks of involvement in Conductor's Art. Regardless of track, all applicants will submit a resume/CV and a statement of interest. Due to high demand, participation is by invitation only. The School of Music conducting faculty will review all applications and then notify those who have been selected via email, with full payment due at that time.

Tracks Offered

Full Conductor ($300)  - Participants will be able to conduct at all chamber and large ensemble sessions.

Large Ensemble ($200)  - Participants will conduct once at each large ensemble session.

Observer ($100)  - Participants may observe all sessions and interact with clinicians and musicians, but will have no podium time.
