Work Study
The Federal College Work Study Program (CWSP) allows undergraduate students who show financial need to earn money to assist with their educational expenses.
Applying for and Receiving Funding
- Submit the FAFSA Annually: Students interested in Work Study should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after October 1 as possible each year, because this program has limited funding.
- Accept the Funding Offer: If you are selected to receive Work Study, you will need to officially accept your funding offer in myLSU, before applying for employment opportunities to begin receiving the funding.
- Apply for Employment Opportunities: After accepting your Work Study offer in myLSU you can apply to either on-campus employment or community service work site opportunities through Handshake. Students will go through a traditional application process to secure employment in order to earn the wages from their Work Study funding.
Eligibility
Students participating in the Work Study program can work up to 20 hours per week and earn up to approximately $3,000 per year. Students earn an hourly wage and are paid bi-weekly. Students must meet all requirements as outlined in Policy Statement 33.
PS-33
Policy Statement 33 governs the employment of all students on the LSU campus, regardless of funding source.

"I love being able to gain valuable experience and skills for my career while supporting fellow students in my job. My Work Study funding gives me the ability to earn money and skills without leaving campus."
